Principal Standards Organizations
The principal standards organizations are:
- American Boat & Yacht Council[1]
- American Bureau of Shipping[2]
- Bureau Veritas[3]
- Det Norske Veritas[4]
- Lloyd’sSecond Register of Shipping[5]
- Nippon Kaiji Kyokai[6]
ABYCAmerican Boat and Yacht Council standards are sold commercially but Transport Canada publishes Construction Standards for Small Vessels (TP1332) on the web.[7] In particular see Lloyd’s Rules & Regulations for the Classification of Special Services Craft (Lloyd’s is more conservative than ABYC).
