Slow Cooker
Slow cookers (crock-pots) are used to cook food slowly over a period of 6-8 hours. Proponents of pressure cookers argue that they cook the same recipes substantially faster than a slow cooker. This may be true, but slow cooking imparts a unique blended flavour to suitable recipes. However, slow cooking neutralizes vitamins and other trace nutrients in vegetables.
Slow cookers typically have a 4 qt[1] (4.5 Llitre) capacity sufficient for serving four people. Simple models have High/Low settings and automatic shift to Warm. Programmable models usually have modes for automatic cooking, program, probe and manual. Electrical consumption runs 0.7 kWhKiloWatt hour (see ElectricalCapacityAC).- ↑ Imperial measure
