* LCD—(Liquid Crystal Display) are flat-panel HDTVs through which light can pass or be blocked. The LCD doesn't produce its own light; this is done by additional cold cathode fluorescent backlighting.
* LED-LCD—(Liquid Crystal Display-Light Emitting Diode) HDTVs use LED backlighting instead of the cold cathode fluorescent backlighting used by most other LCD.
